Family Circle

"Now this is The Law of the Jungle... as old and as true as the sky;
And the Wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the Wolf that shall break it must die.
As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the law runneth forward and back...
For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf... and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack!"

...R.J. Kipling

Web Masters' Memo:

November, 2011

Veterans Day

Everyone knows that the "war to end all wars" didn't. Those of us who have engaged in war and lived to consider it understand the waste of life and resources it truly is. Each year on the 11th day of November a time has been set aside to pay a special tribute. Not to war, but to those who have served their country in uniform in times of war and in times of peace. They are all about us and bred into the very fabric of our Nation.

There are things you do every day that you consider to be your birthright as an American Citizen. You take it for granted. You work to hang on to your home and property. You grumble about the efforts (or lack of effort) from those we have hired to uphold our Constitution. You bicker about who's most correct in the ways you have chosen to worship the God that you believe in. You struggle to buy your children a quality education so they (hopefully) will be able to make changes that will benefit Mankind and Mother Earth as well as enriching their minds and net worth. So why not make the time to say thanks to the ones who stood and still stand between you and those that would have you live as serfs bent to the will of your "betters" who will dictate all of "your" decisions for you?

What I dread most in this life is the day that there are no longer those willing to stand up in the true service of this experiment that is America

Thanksgiving

It's some rough times around the word with financial, civil and social unrest. There are wars and governments failing and falling. This is nothing new and it's far from the last of change see in our lifetimes... and yet we survive!

All in all I'd say we, as a family, have a lot to be thankful for. Remember that when later this month (or any day) when you sit down to eat, be it a feast with family and friends or alone with a crust of bread and a bowl of beans, there are people on the skin of this Earth that would give their soul for what you have... for they have so much less and no hope of anything better.

Thanksgiving as a holiday was intended to be a celebration of survival despite the tough times. A celebration of the courage and determination to suck it up and keep going despite the odds. To make something positive from whatever you have.

I have never gotten all that I deserve... and I am thankful for that!

My suggestion to all of you: Take the time to get together whenever you can and make some good times, even though it may be inconvenient. The bad times will surely come along on their own... fond memories go a long way in helping to get through them.

I am pleased to say that I spoke briefly with some of the committee members from the 4th generation that will be the new "webmasters" soon. Sounds like they are ready to vigorously assume the task. If my comments and this page should come to an end in the future I want you to know that although overwhelming at times, it has been fun!!

Just Wondering

Have You Noticed:

(a) How some programs that you and your employers have placed money into for your benefit are now being labeled "Entitlements" giving the illusion that it's some type of unearned, undeserved give away that someone else has the burden of paying for?

(b) How the public embraces someone who offers a solution to our economic problems instead ranting about what the opposition has done wrong?

(c) How we allow attention to be diverted away from our Legislative Branch who are the people that we hired to represent us and not a political party?

Issues for the common good

How many of you "over 60's" have looked into vaccinations against Shingles?

Have you taken time to put the "ICE" ( In Case of Emergency) listings in your phones directory? (How about for your kids phones?)

Do you treat everyone as an equal until they show that they are not?

Do you know who your kid's "Social Network Friends" are?

Have you made sure that you (or others you love) are not disclosing their date of birth, hometown, home address, school or church on-line through a social network?

How many of you men over 40 have started getting regular Prostate exams?

How many of you over 50 are overdue for a Colonoscopy?

Does your household have a "Disaster Plan" so you know where to meet out side in case of a fire? What to do in case of a natural disaster, home invasion or medical emergency?

Do you respect others rights to have religious beliefs that differ from yours?

How many of you know your blood pressure (and understand what the numbers represent)?

Diabetic or not do you know your A1C level? Cholesterol Level?

How many of you Seniors have designated someone as your advocate, set up a medical power of attorney or put in writing what your wishes are in the event a hard medical decision must be made on your behalf?  Have you at least discussed this with your Spouse, children or significant other?

If  you keep or carry a firearm for personal or family protection do you go to a range and practice at least monthly to stay proficient?

How many of you see the connection between a failing American economy and our purchasing of foreign goods?

Do you take a moment to thank our men and women in uniform when you see them in airports, train or bus stations?

Laquetta Rogers did a great job putting together the  2011 Wynn Family Reunion. Please see the "Reunion" page for more comments & pictures.

I have been working on a page to list the final resting places of our Loved Ones who have passed on. It's a looong way from complete. I don't want anyone thinking that omissions are intentional. You can help me by reviewing any obituaries of notices that you have and let me know of any corrections and additions. By the way, when I say Loved Ones I mean anyone that you have info on in your and your children's gene pool! Click here to go to Records

Another project of mine was getting some of my old 8mm and Super 8mm silent films converted to DVD. This should be completed before June this year. Hope to share them at the reunion. **Done** (I waited too long and lots of the tape had degraded to the point that some very key portions were lost... forever.) If you have something like this get it done NOW! Then you won't have to carry regrets... like me.

Bruce B. Wynn sent me the link to a wonderful "Smilebox" that his Sister, Natasha, created as a tribute to their Mom, Annie Pearl Wynn. please turn up your sound and click here: http://secure.smilebox.com/ecom/openTheBox?sendevent=4d5467324f546b7a4d7a42384e4445784d6a6b774e7a673d0d0a&sb=1

George Drake established a beautiful and fitting on-line Memorial to his Mother, Thajuana,  that he sent me a link to and asked that I share it with the family. I encourage all of you to share thoughts and memories. Please see: http://tdrake.remembered-forever.org/tdrake/p/mem/

Thank you George, for sharing this with us.

Robert (Bobby) Burgess has a very talented Daughter ( no surprise to me, given her gene pool) and he sent me this. I immediately got his OK to post it on our site for you. Crank up your sound for this one and please go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS-wd8t4WEw .

While you're looking at links, don't forget to have a look on our Family Enterprise page and see what some of your kin are doing!

Scroll down on this page to see "Poet's Corner"... a section of original poetry from  family members

Coming SOON (hopefully)!

More pictures from recent Reunions and Gatherings

Since starting this web-site I've had many  "Wynn's" sign the Guest Book on our home page and/or contact me via e-mail hoping to find their roots. Although I can't find a common ancestor that I know of in our family for most of them it seems that some of them may be connected to one another. I will try to organize a page, the "Wynn Mill", that may help some searchers locate "Wayward Wynn's".

In July, 2004 we launched the second phase of the site, (no... the first phase is nowhere near finished!), which involves linking info and photos of spouses of Wynn descendants and their families. It never really got off the ground. (I could use some help here!) Hopefully this will give future generations help in tracing their lineage. Once again... my greatest source of information is YOU!

Did you know that...
"You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person!"

Poet's Corner

Got a poem YOU wrote? Send it in and we'll put it here. This little corner is for original work from the family.

 An Ode to a Sword

By

     Lindsay Maurice Wynn

A scabbard hewn of hardened wood,

A blade of tempered steel.

A purpose that is understood

A balance you can feel.

A cold and glistening thing of death,

That whispers through the air.

A sharpness that can still your breath,

A blade that's honed with care.

A hilt contoured to match your grip,

A tool, no more... no less.

Now such a thing I once did wield,

And always will possess.

Though now, I loathe to count the souls,

That blade has lain to rest.

         A Reunion Tribute

                                 by

               Robert L. Wynn, Jr.

Welcome aboard the Wynn Love Fountain

Gathering this time in Pine Mountain.

We're here on behalf of Douglas Bernard

(Little did he know the prep was so hard).

The planning, the calling, the preparatory whirlin'

Was coordinated by the entire family of Virlyn.

This reunion was particularly fun.

Boy did we have the kids on the run.

Ponies, basketball and bumper cars,

With GC's driving we're lucky there's no scars.

The adults played checkers, whist and some chess

In the latter game I was the best.

Yes we can have fun because of our predecessor's labor of love

Because they understood what life's really made of.

We are most thankful that Jesus divined us

with consumerate originals -

From "D. J." to "Primus".

And our new generation will serve us well,

From their smiles and bright eyes I can tell!

Brianna, Nia, Cameron, BJ

Jaden, Ebun, Candace, DJ.

Fortunate indeed are us

We cannot say enough about Taurus

For he is oh so special too.

From all of us we say "I love you". (Sign language)

Where will we be next/ We know fo' sho'

Off we go, in a family row, to enjoy Orlando.

So until then, I have one admonition

Hold your head high and pursue your ambition

And stay aboard the Wynn Express

Because we truly are the best.

If your name is "Wynn" and/or you think you have a "connection" with our family, please be sure to let us know when you sign our Guest Book near the bottom of the home page.

It is our hope that this site will help us and our progeny remember who we are, where we came from, where we are headed and more importantly give us the means to keep in contact with one another and watch our family grow!

There WILL be errors, oversights and unintentional omissions as we are pulling things together. Bear with us.  You can help by QUICKLY letting us know about our errors. We intend to include everyone that we can find in our gene-pool on this site... but we can't do it without your help!
